چکیده
Abstract For the Phase-2 CMS upgrade for High-Luminosity LHC, a luminosity uncertainty of 1% is targeted. To achieve this goal, measurements from multiple luminometers with orthogonal systematics are required. A standalone luminometer, Fast Beam Condition Monitor (FBCM) being designed online bunch-by-bunch measurement. The sampling time resolution ∼0.7 ns also enables measurement beam-induced backgrounds. In paper, hardware architecture and readout protocol FBCM described. expected performance simple behavioral model front-end comprising constant fraction discriminator discussed, although final implementation in ASIC still under discussion. The CMS experiment at the CERN LHC
The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) detector is described. The detector operates at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. It was conceived to study proton-proton (and leadlead) collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 14 TeV (5.5 TeV nucleon-nucleon) and at luminosities up to 1034 cm−2s−1 (1027 cm−2s−1). At the core of the CMS detector sits a high-magneticfield and large-bore superconducting sol...
متن کاملThe RPC system for the CMS experiment at the LHC
The CMS detector at the LHC has a redundant muon system. Two independent muon systems are used in the L1 trigger. One of them is based on wire chambers, the other on RPC detectors. Properly combining the answers of the two systems results in a highly efficient L1 trigger with high flexibility from the point of view of rate control. Simulation results show, however, that the RPC system suffers f...
متن کاملInteractive Graphics for the Cms Experiment at the Lhc
The ability to visualise the CMS detector and its response to physics processes is of great importance, both in the design evaluation and data analysis phases of the experiment. We describe the visualisation requirements of CMS and the implementation of the CMS interactive detector and event visualisation program, known as CMSCAN, which supports 3D viewing of the detector and events, as well as...
متن کاملThe Rpc System for the Cms Experiment at Lhc 1 Cms Detector 2 Cms Muon Trigger
The CMS experiment designed for Large Hadron Collider is brieey described. An idea of a muon trigger based on RPC is presented. This talk focuses on the requirements on RPC as the trigger detectors for the CMS. We discuss the required chamber's parformance and segmentation. Current design of the system fulllling these requirements is presented. Its expected trigger performances are given. The a...
